Why this exists
Going straight to IonQ or Amazon Braket is the right call for one project. It stops being the right call the moment you hold an IonQ key and an AWS account, because you then own two credential paths, two circuit formats, two status vocabularies and two device catalogues that change without telling you. None of that is research. It is plumbing, and it is the same plumbing for everyone who does it.
Aperis is that plumbing, written once. The part that decided the whole design is that your provider bills you directly: your keys, your account, their published rates. We never take custody of the spend, so there is no hardware margin in our pricing for you to find later and no incentive for us to route your work anywhere other than where you asked.
Who builds this
I built the two-provider integration before I built anything else, because it was the part I kept needing and kept rewriting. What made it worth turning into a product was not the plumbing but a conviction about how it should behave: that your provider bills you directly, that a job is reported as the provider reports it rather than as we would like it to look, and that nothing on the screen is a number we made up. Those are decisions that are easy to hold when nobody is telling you to grow faster.
Self-funded, and answerable to nobody
Aperis is built by Doviatech LLC, which has taken no outside investment. There is no board, no runway to defend and no growth target that has to be met by a date someone else picked.
That is not a virtue in itself, but it is the reason several decisions on this site could be made at all. There are no prices published yet, because no real workload has told us what they should be and a published price is far harder to change than an unpublished one. Nothing is gated on how many providers you connect, even though that is the obvious thing to charge for, because it would put a price on the first moment the product is worth anything. Neither decision survives a quarterly number.
